Teddies for Tragedy and social network of KNITTERS

As my profile says, I'm interested in a lot of 'stuff' but something that has really taken a hold of me this year is creating a network of KNITTERS to produce teddies.

There are two strands to this post:
  1. Producing teddies for The Mercy Ships and
  2. A practical example of how social networking really works
The teddies provide comfort to the young children who undergo treatment on The Mercy Ships, which I found out about when my sister, Veronica Weatherhead, returned from a 7-week stint in Togo, Africa earlier this year

Now, I don't KNOW many knitters, but through various means of social networking (some more traditional than Twitter or blogging) I now have over 100 knitters and that number increases every day as the message spreads.

Email me on beccibond@hotmail.com to receive a teddy knitting pattern.

Get the basic right first

I'm a great believer in getting the absolute basics right before trying to add some fancy stuff on top. But so many of the meetings I sit in on, I think I must be missing the point or something, because I'm sitting there thinkging "WHAT ARE YOU DOING TALKING ABOUT THAT NOW FOR, when you haven't even worked out how to do the basic stuff yet?".

I have to clean the kitchen before I cook a meal.
Sometimes I even have to clean my DESK before I start a tough day at work.

But it all boils down to the same thing .... don't even TRY to tackle some of that advanced stuff, before you've mastered the basics.

Isn't that life in general?
